Larry H. Miller Dealerships Spreads Holiday Cheer With $105,000 in Gifts to Albuquerque Charities


ALBUQUERQUE (December 15, 2021) – Larry H. Miller Dealerships employees announced today a generous plan to spread joy during the holiday season as they present $105,000 in donations to six local charities. Funding will provide technology for students who are blind or visually impaired, a home-away-from-home for families whose children are undergoing medical treatments, shelter for women and children experiencing homelessness, help for youth in sex trafficking situations, and more.

Friday, December 17


  • 10 a.m. - $20,000 - New Mexico School for the Blind – A state school dedicated to serving students who are blind or visually impaired, students learn through individualized programming and intensive instruction in compensatory/adaptive skills to build independence. The grant will allow the school to meet the unique needs of students that falls outside the school’s fiscal budget, including technology, adaptive equipment, eyeglasses, graduation gowns, and more.

  • Noon - $20,000 - Barrett Foundation, Inc. – The Barrett House provides shelter and supportive services to approximately 200 women and children experiencing homelessness in Albuquerque each year. This donation will allow the shelter to provide services, including housing, meals, basic needs, and one-on-one case management, such as helping teach residents how to apply for benefits, childcare, and permanent housing.

  • 2 p.m. - $20,000 - Ronald McDonald House Charities of New Mexico – The grant will support the organization’s lodging program, which provides a “home-away-from-home” for families with children undergoing medical treatment. Thousands of New Mexican children and their families travel to Albuquerque each year seeking lifesaving care, and these families spend considerable time away from home during the treatment.

Tuesday, December 21


  • 10 a.m. - $20,000 - New Mexico Dream Center – The Dream Center has a robust Street Outreach program that targets women and teens that are being sex trafficked in Albuquerque. This grant will support their Winter Street Outreach Program, which uses two methods, Approach and Intersection to engage in safe conversations with potential victims. On any given night in the U.S., 41,000 unaccompanied youth, ages 13-25, experience homelessness, and one in five homeless youth end up in a sex trafficking situation they cannot exit.

  • 1 p.m. - $20,000 - American Legion Auxiliary Foundation (ALA) – This donation will allow 200 high school students who have met specific requirements and are interested in government and current events, to spend six days at a university campus where they will participate in a mock election. They assume the roles of “Federalists” and “Nationalists” and campaign to become elected officials during the ALA Girls State, learning principles of leadership, grounded in patriotism and Americanism.

Thursday, December 23


  • 10 a.m. - $5,000 - Double Eagle Elementary School PTA – The donation will allow the school to purchase t-shirts for its 540 students to wear during the school’s Jog-a-Thon fundraiser. Proceeds from the Jog-a-Thon will support the school.
