Why:

Wells Fargo knows buying a vehicle is one of the most expensive purchases most people make and budgeting for a vehicle may not be easy for everyone, especially for returning heroes who are focusing on transitioning back to civilian life. We are pleased to work with Larry H. Miller Ford Mesa to support Military Warriors Support Foundation’s Transportation4Heroes program to help combat-wounded veterans and Gold Star Spouses.

Since 2015, Wells Fargo has donated more than 40 vehicles and financial mentoring, valued at over $1 million, through our Sponsored Vehicle Donation Program to support combat-wounded veterans, Gold Star families, and military-and-veteran related nonprofit organizations in collaboration with auto dealerships across the country. In Phoenix, Larry H. Miller Ford Mesa, part of Larry H. Miller Dealerships, was selected for this program because of the group’s mission to enrich lives and its focus on giving back in the communities where it does business.

Phillip Rousu was born and raised in Arizona. He joined the Army in 2012 to follow in his brother’s footsteps and gain experience in the medical field. Specialist Rousu served as a Ranger Medic in 3rd Platoon, B Company, 3rd Battalion, 75th Ranger Regiment. In 2015, while deployed to Afghanistan, he was wounded in combat during a night raid and later received a Purple Heart for his injuries. After his deployment, Specialist Rousu continued his service at the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center and served until he medically retired in late 2016. Throughout his military career, he received many awards for his service and bravery including a Combat Medical Badge, Joint Service Commendation Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal and more. Today, he lives in Anthem, Arizona with his wife and two children.

Since 2015, Military Warriors Support Foundation has awarded over 100 payment-free vehicles through their Transportation4Heroes program. In addition to vehicles, they provide family and financial mentoring to combat-wounded veterans and Gold Star Spouses. Through all of their programs, they have enabled their Hero families to pay off over $23 million in personal debt.
