Larry H. Miller Chrysler Jeep Tucson Hosts Diaper Drive and Donates $5,000 to Diaper Bank of Southern Arizona
Diapers are a basic need and quality of life item, not just for infants, but for the 25 million Americans suffering from incontinence. In Pima County alone, one in four children is born into poverty annually, and many low-income families or those living below the poverty line don’t have access to this essential health item.
Larry H. Miller Chrysler Jeep Tucson is collecting diapers now through November 30, 2018. Individuals may drop off packages of new disposable diapers in all sizes at the dealership located at 7800 E. 22nd Street in Tucson.
“Diapers and/or incontinence supplies cost on average $100 per month, which is an expense many families cannot afford,” said Dan Moxley, executive director, Diaper Bank of Southern Arizona. “Regardless of age or size, the average child or adult uses 6-10 diapers per day. We’re currently distributing one million diapers per year to 20,000 families who struggle to afford them in the Tucson area, but that’s only meeting 11 percent of the need, which makes diaper drives so valuable.”
In addition to the collection drive, representatives from Larry H. Miller Dealerships will present a grant in the amount of $5,000 to the Diaper Bank of Southern Arizona, via its charitable organization Larry H. Miller Charities.
