Representatives from Larry H. Miller Dealerships presented donations totaling $33,000 to five local charities on Friday, July 28, including the Rio Grande Food Project, National Dance Institute of New Mexico, New Mexico Young Actors, Crossroads for Women and the Boys & Girls Clubs of New Mexico. The donations, which are granted by Larry H. Miller Charities, the charitable arm of the dealership group, will provide funding for the following programs:
  • The Rio Grande Food Project will receive $5,000 to provide a week’s worth of groceries to multiple low-income families on a monthly basis. This donation will directly impact 667 women and children.
  • An $8,000 donation to the National Dance Institute of New Mexico will help serve 2,250 at-risk children by providing advanced training instruction in-school and after-school through the organization’s Dancing to Success in Albuquerque program.
  • A donation in the amount of $5,000 to New Mexico Young Actors will help with school bus funding, reduced admission and tuition to enable Title 1 schools to bring their classes on enrichment field trips to the Kimo Theatre.
  • A $5,000 grant to Crossroads for Women’s Healthy Connections program, will provide access to enrichment activities and healthy socialization for families who are experiencing disruptions due to the mother’s history of addictive or mental health disorders.
  • The Boys and Girls Clubs of New Mexico will receive $10,000 for a new club program called Write Brain, which is an innovative, standards-aligned writing and comprehension program that concludes with students receiving a copy of a self-authored storybook.
